Conditions – Treatments

Because Every Part of You Deserves a Caring Specialist

Conditions affecting the colon, rectum, and anus can range from mildly irritating to life threatening. The Colorectal Institute’s team of Board Certified Surgeons (Lee County’s only colon and rectal specialist certified by the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons) specialize in the treatment of diseases affecting the colon, rectum, and anus.

Our surgeons treat both benign and malignant diseases of the colon and rectum.    Surgery is always the absolute last option we choose when diagnosing and communicating our recommendations for treatment of your condition.   If surgery is considered the best option for treatment, we then treat conditions using a multi-modality approach by teaming with our colleagues in gastroenterology, oncology, and radiation oncology.

Our team specializes in using surgical techniques that attempt to save the anal sphincters and allow our patients to continue pursuing their active lifestyles without the stress of having to receive an ostomy bag.   Every patient we service is seen as being a unique individual case, and each patient case is reviewed for accuracy of diagnosis and best recommended practices.   In many cases, minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery can be performed versus that of Open Surgery.
